Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
Hi,
I own a roland gx 24 cutter and hotronix heat press and I am trying to put this image on my shirts but I need it to be trace in lineart. Im trying to convert this image into lineart or clipart or just simply vectorizig it black and white but i can't seem to do it using powertrace that is in coreldraw X4 and im trying to import this file into my plotter so it can be cut
i've tried researching around the forums using the searchbox and I only got some results about redrawing it and scanning it but still no luck
re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
There are services who can do that for you. I see where the photo really needs a designer to make some choices on what elements will be "cut". It even looks like it could be a nice two or three layer (white, grey and black) image once vectorized.
vectormagic.com has a free trial in which you could see how well it does for free, that might help you get started.
I use the free tools so cannot advise on how to do the work in something like Corel...
Good luck!

re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
is there anybody else out there that knows how to do this in corel besides directing me a trial link that auto vectors it for me? I really want to know how to do it myself on Corel and not have someone do it for me, everything cost money nowadays and everybody wants a piece of the pie
re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
You can bet that almost certainly the people who will vectorize this will NOT use Corel..X3 and X4 have decent quickies but if you really want good vectors...go with a professional...or get a professional program that is geared for that..If I can go to Vector Magic | Precision Bitmap To Vector Conversion Online and for about $7.50 a month for unlimited conversions...why would I want to waste my time trying to do it myself.. You need to figure the time and what that costs if you do it yourself..

what do you mean they will not use corel x3. i can vectorize it in corel. bottom line get to know the bezier tool and you can learn to do it yourself
re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
easiest way to ensure a quality trace is by starting out with a good sharp image to be scanned. if given a crappy image then it will take time and knowhow to get something decent from the trace programs that are embedded in corel and illustrator. play around with the different settings for color/emphasis etc. and do alot of direct select deleting. but i agree with the above. if you're workflow is such that you're losing money by wasting time doing vectorization, then vectormagic is my choice also.

Can you show what results you've acheived so far in CorelDraw X4 and let us know how you were hoping it would look.
That will help others give you more specific advice based on what you're trying to learn.
Re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
I really think limiting the colors is goig to make it blotchy looking. I also think keeping in all the colors is going to give you a ton of slight color transitions.
Go to bitmap
convert to bitmap
then trace bitmap.
I dont think the results are going to be any good.
Re: Please Help me learn how to vectorize this image in CorelDraw X4?
I didn't say it couldn't be done...just that I think this image would be best done by a pro...if you are a pro with corel...maybe so...I use corelX3 and can do bitmap tracing but my time is worth more than 'tweaking' so I go with either vectormagic or send out..

One thing to consider is whether or not you own the copyright to this image and can legally print it. You could always hire an artist to create a similar-but-different line art, vector version for you.
