Caution ! Newbie ! I want to put name and number on soccer t-shirts
First of all, I am not from the USA, I am from Russia and couldn't find the answer on local sites. I am going to set up an online store to sell original t-shirts of famous soccer clubs (Manchester United, AC Milan, Real Madrid and etc.) and to increase profits I would like to be able to put custom names and numbers on the uniform (for example "Ronaldo", "7"). I don't know what kind of equipment I will need, but I have a goal to sell at least 10 t-shirts daily and at least half of them customized. The cost of original t-shirts is rather high and I need equipment and materials which will not spoil the t-shirt and wont be washed away after several machine washes. Of course, special software will be required, too, I suppose.

I guess they wouldn't really be 'original' because they would be rip offs. in the USA it is very illegal to do this and often cause hefty fines and even jail time.
that being said.. all you will need is some way to get the actual blank jerseys, a heat press and some plastisol transfers. i hear good things about transfer express (sponsor) good luck.

very illegal here but, we are talking about russia (don't get thrown in the gullag). depending on what kind of money you have to invest and what kind of suppliers you have in europe (some here will ship), i would look at getting a vinyl cutter, a good pc or mac, adobe illustrator or corel draw and adobe photoshop. and a heat press. you can then do signage, vehicles and shirts. check out this clip:

My mistake, I didn't specify that I am actually going to have contracts with Nike and Adidas and sell only official jerseys. I just would like to know what kind of equipment will be enough to personolize these t-shirts, because it will give me additional profits. Thanks !

heatpress + plastisol transfers. The heat press will cost you anywhere from $150-$400. The plastisol transfers you can see at the link i posted. place the number/names on the jersey, put it in the heatpress and it will seal the numbers/letters professionally.

a good heatpress is a must although these can cost.....also you will need some sort of way of getting signage onto garments this will be done usually via transfer..this on its own could be by the use of a vinyl cutter attached to pc/laptop running illustrator or corel draw or by screen printing to paper plasticol transfers and then heat applying(screen printer and inks required)...numbers can also be purchased ready for transfer...have a look at xpres.com they are UK based but have good support and helplines

When you sign your licensing agreement with Nike and Adidas, they should be able to supply you with authentic artwork. Especially since they are licensing you to do official jerseys, they need to make sure you use all the correct fonts. In fact, you'll probably be required to use the correct fonts as part of the agreement.

good luck getting licensing from adidas and or nike. I know with Adidas they it is very hard to get licensed. They just dont go around giving the license away. YOu have to prove a certain amount of income for your business, show that you actually have heavy traffic coming your way and you have been around for a bit.
Its quality control on their end. Little/small business its hard and the result is having to go through a middle man like uni-sport for the transfers and they do seem to have a good price. Unfortunately if the sell 10" numbers for 4 and you have a #13 you have to pay $8 to number a jersey then turn around and sell for more and their is not much to add on for profit. You will really have to sell a huge amount of jersey's to turn a profit. Their are many companies selling official jersey's already that have the target market cornered already. If you can pull it off hats off to you and best of luck. I wanted to do the same thing but found I was just to small of a business to touch that.
