Default substitute for cold/heat lamination

i hope this is the right section for this.....

i get people come to my shop with their printed posters, bondpaper-printed signs and announcements and wanting to make their prints water-proof. And so i run them into my heat/cold laminator.

instead of running them into a laminator.....
is there another way of making these prints water-proof? like spray-type or something? spray-type waterproof/fixative??????.....

can anyone tell me other techniques that i can try?
