Default Graphics size for Heatpress T-shirt

I just bought a sunIE heat press machine, had it for 2 days, haven't plugged it up yet so please pardon my question. I'm new to the business, just trying to learn my way through it before i launch the business. The question I have is about graphics size- looking at the type of graphics on successful websites like bustedtees.com and t-shirthell.com, cafe express and the like of them, it has become increasingly clear to me that some of those fgraphics woun't fit on 8x11 paper that comes out of a basic inkjet so looking at a t-shirt like this: BustedTees*-*All*The*Single*Ladies
it looks too wide to fit on paper.

and looking at a shirt like this: http://www.bustedtees.com/thepriceiswrong*****

it look like a tight if not impossible fit on a regular paper so my question is,

1. for a 15x15 heatpress and a regular inkjet printer(I'll like reccomndations on injet printers), what kind of paper would I need to purchase for a printer? What paper have you used with an heat press hat has worked great
is the paper longer than the regular printer paper to be able to contan the graphics?

2. What kind of printer do you use for an heat press- which ones have you used that worked. What do you reccomend thats between $0-$150

3. I have photoshop and coreldraw, what size would the graphics have to be to look good on a tshirt like the aformentioned shirts.

4. How do you eliminate the background, say a shirt like this: BustedTees*-*Sweatshops:*Another*Day,*Another*Dollar

all i need to get out of the printer are the yellow building and white text- how does the background figure into or better yet out of this? The tshirt is going to be the background, how do i pring that out of my printer without a background, so that all that will print out of my printer is the image? i have no clue as to how it works.

please anyone with any idea, please help a newbie who is in dire need of help.

2.

You can Print the graphic first then the text separately. Compose the two pieces on a shirt and then press.

I've read good things about JetPro Soft stretch but read up on different papers as to which is best for dark colors.

In that price range you I think you can get a Epson printer that uses pigment ink.

Graphics files based on vector art is commonly used for t-shirt art. Coreldraw will help here but you will need Photoshop for other purposes.

In this sample, surely the art work was vector art and the background you speak of didn't exist to begin with.
Depending on the t-shirt printing method the "background" in a none issue. Doing this type of art using inkjet heat transfer paper and an Epson might be difficult since you would have to cut out the excess transfer paper or find out more about self-weeding paper.

Back to image size...I've printed designs first on regular paper then hold it up to the actual shirt I'm going to use it on. I'll be getting a mannequin in the future to take better measurements. Vector art is resizeable without losing image quality in like phot files. Also, you'll need a wide format printer to give you more flexibility in art size (Epson 1400).

I'm a new at this as well so I hope someone with more exprience will chime in.

Good luck!

Good luck!
what kind of printer would you recommend for a novice who wants to avoid (at least at the beginning) the difficult part of heat press. Say you have a 15x15 heat press, what printer would you get, what paper would you get e.t.c- all I have at this point is a heat press machine.

For the most versatility, you'll want a large format printer. Epson, like Poker said, is a good choice, but the C88 only prints 8 1/2 X 11 paper. Try pricing their 13 X 19 paper size printers that use pigment ink.
