I need to print a film for screen printing, customer sent me a .psd file, and for some reason its not printing well, meaning the curves of the font are slightly pixelated. I tried resizing, same thing. I also tried printing from illustrator and had the same result. I almost always print vector art from illustrator, I hardly ever use photoshop. I dont think there is anything wrong with the clients file, am I missing a step?
What's the image quality? how many DPI? If someone gives you a low quality PSD then it's gonna be pixelated. I would take it into illustrator and vectorize it.
I tried to do a trace in illustrator but the text didnt vectorize well. I also tried opening the file in .ai, exporting as a high res (400 dpi) .jpg and then opening in photoshop and printing, still not great results. I'm stumped.
It was too low of a resolution. So I did a trace on the smaller area, and reset the type. Wasn't too terrible, but it was 100 dpi at about 8" left to right.

Drue, if this isn't a common problem, then you are a lucky printer. I have gotten countless images at too low of resolutions.
I too have gotten some what the mess is this files. 72 DPI at 10% of the size it needed to be printed. They where like just size it up bigger....like I've never use a computer before. I did it, printed it....and they didn't like it. Just clean it up for me.....ah...no.

I do 90% of my jobs in vector, easy breezy. really don't often get finished .psd files, I either seem to get vector, or an old tee shirt they want me to reproduce. lol. in which case I recreate it in vector and charge an art fee. End of the day I have a vector for my films. This one, i couldnt get live trace to do the graphic to my satisfaction and didnt have the font they used.
