So I'm going to ask .. Say I'm making a name like NEW YORK and i want the boby color red with a blue outline but between the red body and the blue outline i want white in the middle what is a easy way to do this i can get the body and the outline but not the middle white if i make it 3 steps then the colors go alll crazy and screws me up lol I need helpppp =o)

You can probably achieve this using Contour, but is it not far easier to just use regular outlines? If you type your word, fill with red and put a fairly large stroke on it, (use stroke behind option). Now copy that word to the clipboard, then paste it back in and change the outline to white and make it smaller. Now you have your white inline, and red outline. Then just adjust to taste. You can access the text in back by Alt clicking on the one in front. It will select beneath the top layer to allow you to select an object behind another object.

What we do is type the text, copy and paste it so you now have 3 copies of your text. Then the first set of text we use the outline tool and put our first outline color on the text, normally 16 point. Then we go to the next text and use the outline tool and use our next color for the outline normally 8 point, then we change the color of the remaining text. then we stack them on top of each other the way we want them we then group all hit c and e keys to align them and you got it. Probally is a faster way, but that is how we accomplish it. Hope that helps.

Using the contour tool you have to select the tool and put your cusor on the text itself and click and drag away from the text. You will find that the text will turn black and you won't be able to read it. Just select white as a colour for your text and there you go. One more tip is at the top of the page there are some options for the contour tool which can change the amount of steps or outlines that you have and how thick you wan't them to be. If you want to change the colour of your outlines you must right click on the outside lines and choose the option "Break Contour Apart". Once this is done you will have to "Ungroup" these outlines as the are all grouped together as one unit. Now you will be able to change the them to what ever colour you like. Have fun.
