Default AI File

Could someone please help me understand why my Corel 12 program will not open an AI file, it keeps telling me that it's in Adobe Illustrator format Version 9 or higher, use the PDF import filter??? I tried to import it using import but it will not let me open it, I do not know what the PDF filter is, all I need is a set of foot prints I found on the web. We are doing shirt for a cancer walk on Friday and the customer just came in today but I had no footprints on file. Thanks

Corel and Illustrator are not 100% compatible. eps and ai are Adobe formats so for the best result, you should always use Illustrator to deal with those files. If you're using Corel to open eps or ai files, then you need to be very careful and make sure that Corel is opening the files correctly. Much of the time, Corel Draw will open the file but something will be wrong, or crash, or both.

Export as .EPS from Illustrator, and select Illustrator 10 from the dialog box. You can now open this in Corel.
