Exclamation Photoshop Elements vs. 6.0

I purchased a photoshop elements 6 book, the other evening, and I wanted to know is there a big difference between elements 6 and photoshop 6.0? Please help.

Essentials is a cut down version of PS.
It has most of the common features but doesn't have all the features or colour management.

All the graphics and images on my 2 sites listed below were made in Photoshop Elements 7.0. I just recently started using Photoshop(CS4) and there is a lot more you can do with Photoshop.

But what software do you own? The Elements book will not help you get all the power out of full Photoshop if that is what you own.
