Default All over designs

Stupid Question.

When I draw a design, I use a T-Shirt template or outline to draw on. When drawing an "all over" or a wrap around design, should I just draw it on a rectangle that represents the total printed area? What's the best way to do that?

I would draw it on a rectangle to represent the total print area, and also show it on the 2-dimensional front and back. Its not an easy situation to work with something being that its 3-dimensional. If you can meet the person I would cut out either paper or use scraps to show how it would fit on the shirt.
