Default New to the game.

Hi guys and girls.

I am brand new to the designing game.

To give you an insight to what has happened in the process so far: I have dowloaded GIMP and Inkscape, sort of messed around with these a bit. Never really used desinging software or what have you. I have ideas in abundance but dont know how to put them down in order for them to be acceptable to send to the printers.

I am really looking for a bit of guidance i guess.
Thanks very much and look forward to the replies.

Default Re: New to the game.

This is what one of my printers request to submit print ready art.

If you have your own art to provide, it must meet our requirements that are outlined below. If we receive art work that does not meet our requirements, there will be an art edit fee depending on the complexity of the correction.

Digital Art Requirements for spot color printing.

Minimum specifications are required to achieve good print results. Please follow the instruction below.

Digital artwork must be submitted in accepted formats only:
• All files must be in .EPS, .AI, .PDF format.
• All fonts must be converted to outlines.
• All colors must be converted to spot colors with correct Pantone numbers.
• Please submit files with images SIZED for printing.

Applications Accepted:
• ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR-our preferred file format. Create outlines for fonts. Save as .AI (version CS or older).
• COREL DRAW-covert text to paths. Save as .AI file.
• ADOBE PHOTOSHOP-should be used only for photographic images, not good for type or logos. But great for our Direct Garment Printing.

Placing a scanned image (or an image created in another program) into an illustrator file does not make the file a vector image.

Applications NOT Accepted:
The following programs do not allow us to create proper separations:
• PHOTOSHOP
• POWERPOINT
• WORD or any word processing program.

Digital Art Requirements for process color printing.

Minimum specifications are required to achieve good print results. Please follow the instructions below.

Adobe Photoshop is the standard for photographic digital imaging.

• Files should be presented in .PSD, .PICT, .TIFF or .EPS formats only.
• NO .GIF or .JPEG files.
• Resolutions should be at least 300 dpi.
• Please submit files with images SIZED for printing.

Digital art requirement for Direct Garment Printing or DTG Printing:
• Any of the above artwork will work.
• High Resolution .JPEG files.
• Any type of file that looks good when you print it on your printer.
• All art must be to SIZE

Hope this helps. Good luck in your designing.
