Default Distress/Grunge Effect without using White??

I've been creating distress patterns by placing the pattern over the image and turning the pattern white. While this method works, FM Expressions says on the site to only place white where you want white to be printed on your transfer. I wanted the white to act as the color of the shirt but I cannot use my method for their transfers. Is there anyway to create a distress pattern over your design so it is the color of the shirt without using a white overlay? I have been searching like a mad man and this is driving me crazy...thanks for any and all help! Dave

Make the overlay the colour of the background. If that's white, use white. If it's the shirt colour, use the shirt colour.

What program are you using? In Adobe and Corel its pretty quick to create your own and apply it to a mask...

in any of the above graphics programs you should be able to select your 'overlay' and change it's color/stroke etc.

What Solmu said works. Our art staff just needs to be able to determine where you want white printed based on your art file and proof. If we can clearly determine where you want or don't want white to print it helps us get your order to press and to your door faster.

The only time we run into delays is when someone tries to put a white block over a part of the design they don't want to print, because they can't remove that part of the image from their art. A good solution is submit your art on a background that is not printing like the shirt color or 100% magenta (if magenta is not printing in the art) and make everything you don't want to print the background color.

This link might help http://site.transferfreedom.com/blog/2009/02/23/submitting-artwork-why-do-we-ask-for-a-proof
