Default angles for four colour process

Hi there,
was hoping someone can help me with a walkthrough for photoshop CS4 for changing screen angles for four colour work, I need help in how to change them ie: what do I click on to do it etc, etc. Also what screen angles are best so as I do not get Moire in my screens. I have been using 77T Mesh and have been having all sorts of problems with Moire. Do I need a higher count Mesh ie: 100T Mesh or more, or can I get away with the 77T Mesh screens I am using by just changing the film angles etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Apostolica

Image>mode>Bitmap.. flatten layers if they arent already. under "method" use "halftone screen..." click OK and then you can setup your frequency and angles..

check out this recent thread on process color angles.

Hi,
thanks for your help bud. Was hoping you could tell me when I go into Image/mode/bitmap, the bitmap tab won't enable, it is not present. Is there something I need to do before I click on it for it to work. ie: do I need to save it a certain way first.

Thanks again.

When you have a CMYK image on screen, go to the channels menu and choose "split channels".
That will give you four grayscale images. For each of them choose "bitmap".

Apostolica,
Yes there is something you need to do, the image cant have any colors and must be in grayscale mode. goto Image>mode>Grayscale.. once you discard the color information you can follow thru with the other steps! good luck.

Charlie Taulbieb has a very useful article on 4 color process printing angles and mesh.

"Charlie has written numerous articles for many of the industry publications and writes a monthly column for Impressions Magazine, "Printing with Charlie". He also conducts seminars and workshops at the Imprinted Sportswear Shows and the SGIA Shows."

Hi,
thanks for your help. I still need some more. I am changing the image to grayscale/bitmap, the colours are split up and then a tab comes up saying discard colours, I press yes and it all goes into one channel. I don't understand how to change the angles, I would really love a complete walkthrough if possible please. What do I click on to open the angle changing. I can't find anything in CS4 that says angles or frequency anywhere. HELP....

Regards
Apostolica.

Have you used the "split channel" menu shown here ?

The screendump here is from PS7, so you may see it a little differently.
