Default Graphic but could lose the background!

Which program can I use to save a graphic without the background? As soon as I make the file a jpeg or tiff or bmp...bam,,,I get the background.

I know if you are using PhotoShop, you can save as "PNG" and it will stay transparent. Not sure of Corel.

GIF is also a file format that allows for transparency.

PNG or GIF. GIF is limited to 256 colors + transparency, but more compatible with older browsers. PNG will support up to 16m colors + transparency, but not compatible with older browsers

Corel is fine for PNG... in the dialog it asks which color you would like to be transparent background or whatever. Grab the eyedropper and select color > hit preview > then OK > done.

It does an ok job on it.

As for gif n' tiff ... no problems there either for trannies.

BMP... hardly ever use unless making a cheezie graphic

I got it done with png or tif in Corel. Thanks everone for the help. Actually I had it correct with tif but my preview looked way out of wack. Only when I downloaded it to a new website I am doing did it actually look correct.
