Create a mask of the design of grunge you want to use and put it on top of the image. Go Media has some grunge templates and Advanced Artist has a plug in I think it is for Corel Draw though.

Right on Curtis. Also, you could do it in layers.

Layer the grunge pattern on top of the artwork. Create a clipping mask on the grunge layer, clipping to the artwork underneath. Then, change the blending of the grunge layer to suit your needs. Purdy simple!

The mr. retro wash filters also work really good if you are not good at making your own.

The Mister Retro filters are great. If you want a cheap (free) solution, screenprinters.net has some distress graphics in their download section you can use as clipping masks.

You achieve the same look using basically any graphics program: it's a simple overlay.

In photoshop open the Italy image. Or the image you are going to use. Open a new layer on top. Place the texture design in the layer(this one looks like a wooden background). In the layer panel go to Blending options, which is under the word layer you will see the word normal> click it and you will see the whole blending options. Dissolve etc. Select it one by one or if you are in a PC just use your arrows up and down and see the different effects. When you like one then play with the opacity. On the right side of the normal word.
Good Luck,

Julia Ropa

There is a great (free) tutorial at www.coreldrawtips.com showing how to do this distress look.
