If you buy the Stahls' Clip Art & Template CD you get 5 digital version of the Stahls' fonts...
These fonts do not match the die cut version exactly but are close.
If your looking for something free, sign up for the Cadworxlive.com software, the "digital" version of Varsity is avaliable to use there. You can't download the font but you can create designs and send to a cutter or export the file out.
Yeah, Stahls Varsity is thinner than the die cut version. We do almost all of our heat press numbers using stahls varsity. I scanned the die cut numbers, 0-9, and traced them out in illustrator. I saved them all in one document and use these for making numbers to cut film. For type I just use the font as it is, when I need to use that style.

A free font, College TTF, when using the upper case letters, closely matches Stahls' Varisty font. Not exact, but close enough for daily usage.

Jimmy, are you willing to share the traced out numbers?
I'm sorry but I wouldn't be comfortable with that - even though they are copies, they are copies of a commercial product. We own Stahls varsity along with a few other Stahls fonts, and we spend a lot of money with Stahls in general so I couldn't see them raising much fuss because I've traced the die cut numbers for use in house; but were I to start sharing them on the net I think that could change rather quickly.
Hope that makes sense.
I'd suggest trying one of the free fonts mentioned above. They are just a simple athletic block style characters, not much to them really.
