Default what process??

Hey guys ... I am trudging my way through illustrator and trying to come to grips with doing art via computer (like painting with a brick at this point).

I have included the links to my photobucket account and I would like some of you expereinced screen printers to tell me about these images. I am trying to get to this type of art and need some help.

What process is used to print these shirts? 4 color, spot color, etc.

I am an old school artist till now and have graphic design knowledge just not digital at the moment (but I will lol). I am working towards doing shirt designs and the like and screen printing is fairly new to me in as far as preparing art work for that medium.

please see my sample images here:

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...cool_skull.jpg
*note* these images are copyrighted and the property of wildside. I am using them solely as a means of demonstrating the technique I am trying to learn.

Thanks in advance for your help
Brian

I would separate and print as simulated (spot) process. You might be able to use index seps as well. Essentially the line art would be created in Illy or a vector program, colored in Photoshop and separated into channel seps.

The ace image is a two color with halftones/percentage hot split transfer. White and gold/tan with halftones for the dimensional fades and effects.

Default Thanks guys

I appreciate you guys coming to my rescue here. Man the internet and special interest forums are a boon for learning from others.

I am working in illustrator primarily

when I color I suspect I should stay with pantone colors (or what the printer specifies)?

how do the fades and graduations work in the actual screens themselves? Is the graduation a series of spot colors or is it done with the screen itself?

Thanks
Brian

Preciate it David! I went and looked at your site...very nice ...and your shirt designs are exactly what Im trying to get to. I am an old schooler for the most part. I airbrushed tshirts for a living at one point and did lots of vehicle graphix using the airbrush and still do from time to time. I just need more work and experience with illy and a better understanding of the entire process of getting the design to the shirt.

I did some airbrush work myself long ago.

While you're waiting for an answer, if you do a forum search for halftones, you'll find some good posts describing the process, and some example pictures.

Here's a good starter thread:
help me with this one... handling fades / gradients with screen printing
