Default need help with color seperation

hi i use photoshop and illustrator for most of my work. i figure i can do the print for the attached image with a yellow orange and maybe a white ink. when trying to do the separations in photoshop i was using the following method. i select the orange with the eye dropper tool, then select>color range. then i go to the channels tab>save selection as channel. the on that channel set to color to the selected color and make it a spot color. i then redo the process with the yellow. the problem is that the image is either too yellow or too orange when the channels are viewed together. the color greateaions (spelling?) are not correct. any help will be appreciated.

It's a nasty little image, I'd redraw it in Illustrator and print the seps from there?
How are you printing this?

Use the curves function in photoshop. Use it on each of your channels and shape the curve until you get what you want.
