Default corel draw software

hey, all!

first of all, i got a new computer! YIPPEE!! it has a big 19" monitor! i got that because i figured i should have a big screen for the t-shirt biz.

anyway, when i ordered my computer, i tried to get corel draw software. the person from the computer company and i talked about my needs and, with the price she quoted, i thought i was getting corel draw.

well, it turns out i have corel photo shop! not what i requested at all. it might come in handy after i get a digital camera, but that's not what i asked for.

i went to corel's site and i see that the software is kind of expensive and there are several different options. so i need help in deciding what i need.

i have a SS shop operational now (i've sold 3 shirts!!) and i'm working on another one. with the first shop, i used SS's design system even though i felt limited, especially because of the limited font options. the shop i'm working on now is for kids and i really need more font options.

as some of you know, anything that is submitted without using SS's system must be in vector. i understand that i can do that with corel. i'm not a designer, but i want to be able to do some designing myself, you know, easy stuff. but mainly i do slogans, so i need a lot of font options.

i have a very limited budget and even if i get things straightened out with the computer company, i feel that i need to know what would best serve me.

on ebay i saw corel draw suite 13, corel draw suite 12, and on corel's site i saw corel draw suite X3. (i can actually get a free trial which is very cool.) what do you guys think would best serve me?

sorry for the long post. LOL! i'm kind of detail-oriented.

thanks!

veggie

CorelDraw 13 and CorelDraw X3 are the same thing. X3 is the official name of that program. 12 is the previous (older) version.

I have X3, it's great. However, what works for me will not necessarily work for you. You should read through the forums and see what other people have to say about it.

Here's just a few of the many threads where CorelDraw has been discussed:

Both Illustrator and Corel Draw have free trial versions available for download, so as well as reading up on why people like/don't like the programs it mightn't hurt to download them both and see which one you feel more comfortable using.

Hey Veggie,

We just (today) received our Corel X3. Ordered from Amazon, for 250.00, full retail (includes 4cd's and 3 books) So depending on how limited your funds are, this might be alright.

How many t'shirts sold would pay for the program you want?
