I am a photoshop addict and halfway decent with Illustrator... I have used Corel and it has some great features especially with separations... they all do separations but Corel seems to be easier to pickup for new people... the guy from the advanced artist site has great video tutorials about Corel... some are free
and you can buy dvds... Corel DRAW tutorial
I use Adobe Create Suite...so Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign. I own a design firm that does branding and marketing, and CS are the tools of the trade.
Dowloaded inkscape ended up in knots, tried corel couldn't get going, illustrator, photoshop afraid even to try.
So I went against the current and got myself Xara extreme, to date slowly getting to grip with it, and liking it.
I mostly use illustrator because I work with vector images.
I have used corel before, and I actually quite liked it because I could plot directly to my old vinyl cutter. It was an older version (12 I think) but I found it very easy to learn - probably because it was similiar to some sign software I'm familiar with.
I get really frustrated trying to learn new software nowadays because it really does take a lot of time to learn and become comfortable with new programs. And I just can't justify spending 5 hours to draw simple deign that I could have done in 5 minutes in illustrator!
recently i've been using photoshop and illustrator for my designs and logo. i also got a wacom bamboo fun for christmas and i love it. it helps a lot with designs.
Mostly use Corel but I do have Adobe Creative Suite 3 but sure not much above a novice with the applications in Adobe. I play with Xara Extreme, Inkscape. For vinyl applications I use SmartCutPro 2 both for normal cutting and for rhinestones. I also have and use R-Wear from Roland
