Default Placing type within an enclosed shaped - CorelDraw

I want to place type inside an iron cross such as West Coast Choppers, etc. In Corel X3, how do I get the text to lay horizontal and fill the entire shape across the left and right side. The type would have to expand on the extreme left and extreme right while being thinner in the middle. I'm sure you've seen this effect in other artwork. Hopefully I've explained this well enough.

I think I've seen this done before. Hopefully Richard (fluid) or another coreldraw expert will see this post and offer a suggestion.

Switch to the artistic text tool. Place the curser next to the "outline" of the object. The curser will cahnge, if your on the outside of the "outline" it will apply the text to the path, if your on the inside of the"outline" it will place the text inside the container like you want.

Let me know if this is too confusing.
