Default design edges

What is the best and fasted way to give your back design an irregular border. I don't want it to have straight edges but rather kind of fade, or feather out. At the suggestion of a previous thread, I downloaded some overlays for a distressed look. Are there any such overlays for design borders.

I think a shadow is actually what you may be trying to get at.

what program are you using? if i understand what you are describing corectly, you might want to try a layer mask or chanel effect in photoshop. can you post the image so i can see what you're trying to do?

I'm using Corel X3. I'll have to upload the pic I have later tonight. Basically, I want to take the rectangular photo, alter it in photo-paint and rough up the edges so it's no longer stiff and straight. I could probably try something like an eraser tool to soften up the edges and make them a little more random.

i don't really know photo-paint, but maybe you could try a air-brush effect around the edges to soften them. in photoshop you would create a mask with a blurred edge to give it a softer appearance.
