I have been printing off and on part time for almost a year now! looking at starting a full time business now. this is the software Ive used over the last year with out a problem. (print shop, hp 4110 ink jet printer, buying film from office max). But with the drive to up grade I have picked up coreldraw 12, and looking at printing my first halfton fade on a shirt. I have been on the phone with a sales guy from Ryonet. The sales guy has told me i need a new epson printer (HP will not work) and a Accu rip softwear for the crazy price of $1,169. I just want to know will my printer work? and what is the best way to print a halfton for the at home guy! thank you

I don't know about the price, but Epson will work better than HP and a RIP works better than no-RIP. If you're only doing a little you can buy a desktop printer & download Ghostscript.
In order to print half tones with Corel you need a postscript printer. We use a HP Laser jet 8000N
that we got used from a local Printer / Copier repair place for $400.00 We don't use a rip program
and we print to Velum.
In Corel where you select printer check the Device Independent printer file. This will give you an additional box to select dot size etc.
Good Luck, John
Download Ghostview & Ghostscript & install both.
Install a postscript printer - such as Apple laserwriter printing to file.
Print to Laserwriter, open in Ghostview and print
You don't need a RIP with an HP LaserJet because it IS a Postscript printer. i.e. it has the RIP on-board. That means that you probably won't have control of the lpi/angle/shape of the dots.
Laser printers are OK for text but as the black area gets bigger, the static charges are repelled to the edge of the block which leads to dark edges and weak central areas.
Get an inkjet, the quality is much higher.
