Default The best Software after Illy/Corel ?

Hi,
Well i have just brought a vinyl cutter and have illustrator cs3, however I cant get the two to communicate, is there any way I can do the work in Illy and then purchase another cheaper brand of software and import the work into that, then output to the cutter?
Any ideas?

Illustrator should be fine, what cutter software are you using?
You could try downloading Inkscape?

What cutter do you have? Maybe they have a plugin for Illy.

hi, its a Graphtec 5000-60 and it does have a plugin (cutting master 2) that SHOULD let me cut directly from Illy, however it is this communication link that is not working.
It should be simple but ive been trying for ages to get it to work, now im trying to get some sort of work-around instead.
That Inkscape looks good, I think i will give that a go and see if I can cut something via that for now

So is it a software issue or a network problem? Have you tried other things on that u.s.b. port?
I would contact Graphtec or your vendor for support before I got any other software.
