can someone help me achieve this effect. i dont need the bevel effect on the text, i just want the outside white glow effect. i tried the drop showdow effect, but i cant seem to fill it white instead of black, when i do this, my shawdow just disappears. i use to be able to do this, i just cant seem to remeber..thanx
If you switch the Blend/Transparency option on the Drop Shadow from Multiply to Normal, you will get whatever color you choose. However recreating that exact same effect you will probably need to use Photoshop with its Outer Glow setting, or add some extra vectors in Corel to recreate it.
Hey, i had the same problem, that when importing PS files to corel the outer glow was dissapearing, so i figured this problem out, here's how: when u have a layer, text layer or just a simple layer, with "blending options" on "outer glow" you should create another empty layer near the "outerglowed" layer, then you have just to pick up those two layers together by pressing CTRL and selecting them so the CTRL should stay pressed, then right click and select "merge layers"-this should merge your "outerglowed" and empty layer into one single layer....now whrn u import it to corel it has teh outer glow on it))) hope it helped...)))
I know this is an old thread but it is similar to what I need to do, I have a pic of a guy on a surf board that I need to put an aura around him, his image was cut out so it's just him with a white background in a tiff,
and just the cut out in a png file. So does anyone know how to a gold glowing aura around a cut out persons image in Photo shop 6.0? I am pretty good with corel draw but suck at photoshop!
Thanks
Assuming your image is a flattened file (only one layer, guy is there with white background).
Duplicate your original layer, then hide it.
Use the magic wand tool, set its settings for a low tolerance (1-10), with the Contiguous box checked.
Use the tool to select the white background area, hold down shift and select any other areas that might be segmented in the picture (IE: area between legs, right and left side/etc).
Hit the delete key on the keyboard.
You should now be left with a checkerboard pattern and the guy, with no more white background.
Next right click on the layer you're working on in the Layer flyout and go to Blending Options.
Click on Outer Glow
Select what color you want, and play around with the settings until you get the result you want.
If you need help seeing the glow effect, create a new Fill Layer and fill it with Black (or whatever color), and move that layer behind your guy's layer by clicking and dragging it beneath it on the Layer flyout.
If you require the transparency still (IE: going to be overlaying the image onto another image), then hide the fill background if you made it, and save it in a format that allows transparency (I usually use PNG, make sure transparency is set to enabled on whatever you choose).
This is how I do it on CS2, but I'm pretty sure it was the same in 6, just been forever since I used 6.

In Draw
Create Text, add drop shadow - select shadow color
Then use sliders to increase opacity of drop shadow and feather amount.
Select outside as feather direction.
transparency operation - can use normal, if lighter, saturation depending on effect.
In Photoshop... no idea
I'm sure there will be some others who will know.
