Haven't tried Mister Retro for the price reasons . . . I done my own distresses with the crumple method and worked out really good . . . as more advanced I got with printing it was time for something else. I went to Advanced Artists websire and found that they have a comp generator with several different washhed, and retro looks. Also, has a great video to show you how to use them.
Like unik ink said. Print a sheet on your laser printer make it a totally black square. Crumple it up then straigntn it out. wipe it off lightly to remove the loose toner. Scan it, Save it, Overlay it on your image.
Poof....... Instant distress.
Try crumpling several different papers differently for other effects.
I do this all the time
Have Fun!
