beginning to believe you can't print b&w photo on green shirt
Can someone please tell me exactly what to do in photoshop to print a black and white photo on a green shirt. I cannot find any info anywhere on here or on the web that helps. I have only gotten answers such as,use black, white and grey ink. How do I print it? In halftones or solid? I really have no clue where to start and I'm beginning to think it can't be done because I have no responses and can't find any info. Help Please. I really need to knowhow to do this artwork....from opening it on my page to printing...lol. I do know how to do spot color seps and cmyk prints but I just can't seem to even begin to figure this one out.

What's the image? Post on here.
If it is only black and white, you should have very little trouble printing it.
Do you want the black and the white of the print? Or only the black with the shirt color coming through?

Re: beginning to believe you can't print b&w photo on green shirt
if it's a photorealistic image you want printing then it would require halftones.
I would generally just have two channel seperations - an underbase white and then black on top.
Re: beginning to believe you can't print b&w photo on green shirt
oh my god if you could do that for me that would save me from my nervous breakdown. This image will be going on pink shirts and green shirts. I also have font overlaying the image, but I know how to take care of all that so long as its not flattened when you do the photo seps. I was told I need black, white and grey to print this image. I also have printed black on top of a white base, but black on white looks muddy or greyish. Just lemme know what you think. Heres the attatched photo at its actual print size.
Re: beginning to believe you can't print b&w photo on green shirt
not sure on the extent of your knowledge but if you are wanting the image to look identical on this but on coloured tees you would need two channels, one black and one white.
to create the white underbase you would basically need to create a copy of the file and invert this image and then the black parts you see will be your white channel (white parts)
do the same as this for the original image for the black parts.
this will give you the two required channels.
If you require me to go into more detail let me know.

I know exactly what you are asking, but I just don't know the steps to do it. Could you please tell me more details on how to do this. How do i convert into halftones? I'm using an epson 1400
Re: beginning to believe you can't print b&w photo on green shirt
Email me and I'll send you the photoshop file. You will have to output the channels to film with halftones. You will need a rip for your printer, or ghostscript, or break the channels up and convert to a bitmap using halftones.
The file is a simple white underbase, and a black plate. It will work on any color shirt.
