Default Converting my seps into haalftones for b&w photo

I have seperated my b&w photo into three layers. black, white, and grey. Now what would be the bst way to convert these into halftones? I'm using photoshop7.0 and it seems like the info I've been reading doesn't match up with my photoshop. I only see an option to colorize halftone. I also see that you can greyscale then bitmap, but that has never printed nice for me in the past.Help!

Greyscale then bitmap is the way to go!

You need to make sure that your printer supports printing halftone, if not, the software and printer will just print it as a greyscale and it won't work properly

I dont understand why you have a grey layer?
the whole point of halftones is that the smaller the dots are this gives the illusion of grey areas so if you were printing on a white tee you only need the black channel/layer.

If printing on a coloured/black tee you would need an additional white underbase channel

We usually just create the seperations in PS and let our printer do the rest.

They then create the halftones when outputting to the printer

cheers
Sid

no need to bitmap it, leave it in photoshop and print it from the channels, one channel for each color. you can pick the halftone dots in the print dialogue box. if you aren't printing out the films yourself, i'd say just give the original file to the printer to separate and ask for the sep'd file after so you can see what they did.
having a gray along with the white & black isn't necessary but it helps to have a smoother print.

He's separating a photographic image, so the gray will make the print look more photo-real than using just black & white.
