more software help
I only need software right now that is for a simple logo, silk screened labels and tags. The shirts will only have wording and the logo on them thats all. All the software looks complicated. I have a "friend" that wants to "help" me with everything which makes me feel like they are taking control of my idea and my company. They also want 49% when profit starts. So I talked to a graphic artist and he likes my idea and would love to do business with me and would like 7 cents from every shirt sold. So I am looking for something pretty basic just to see what I can do on my own. Mermaid
As far as I know...there are no easy software paths to do what you want. You just have to learn as we all did. It is true that the software is not simple...but then neither is the task you want to do...start out slow...try some of the free software....gimp.org this is a free photoshop program and for vector..try gimp.org this is an illustrator program. You can find books with info at borders or barnes and noble. So take the plunge and download the software...get some books with instructions and spend some time learning..it will pay off in the long run

Re: more software help
Thanks, I need to slow down and go through the learning curb, right down I feel like I am being chased by wolves and they all want a piece of me. This is a really weird place to be in.
Just take your time. soon you will be up and running and be your own boss...there is a learning curve but I have been doing this for years and still learning but it all works and you can make $ and have fun too

Re: more software help
I am going to slow down and learn, my friend just did a line with her sister so she knows everything, I just feel that I can learn how to do it as well and not have someone say they did this and that so they should own a huge percentage. Sorry it is all just freaking me out a little, and feel like I am getting a lot of people who want to take charge and where will that leave me in the long run. I am not confortable about giving other people that much power over something I came up with. My TM attoney said it would take blood sweat and tears so I am ready to do that. I just need to take a deep breath and dig in.

There are several different software options out there for you. It depends on what you want to invest into it. There is inkscape that you can download for free from inkscape.org, then there is Corel draw and illustrator. I myself have both of these and both are good programs. I myself use the corel draw most times. These are all vector programs which is what you want for doing vector graphics. Both Illustrator and Corel draw have free downloads that you can try. I think each download is a 15 day trial, I would try each one after the other, so that you can get the most out of the trial periods, to see which one you like and is easier for you to use, if you chose to go that path.
I think though for what you are saying, that what you want to do is very simple logos, then inkscape would probably be fine, and its free
Hope this helps

Re: more software help
Hi BobbieLee,
I have read a lot of your posts and you are very helpful, I will check the places you listed out. I also think I need to talk to my business attorney, when you started did it feel like things just moved really fast and you were just trying to keep up? Thats why I need to slow down and learn and not let other people just take over.

I my self use Corel and am an avid user. But there are times that I find myself using some other program to get that "effect". At this point of the game it is mostly preference choose one right now and stick to it . . most of these programs have some sort of learning curve. If you go to Advancedartist.com they have some great tutorials.

torodesigns,
Thank you and I will check out Corel, I looked at some of it tonight and I just need to take the leap and do the trial and see what happens. FYI if my line takes off I am coming back to TX. Miss it!
