Hi, im trying to make a couple band/concert shirts for my friends band. This is the style of font they made.(see attchment) ( its a christmas present for them so i cant ask) They have some album art i want to put on the back of teh shirts, but i want their band name on the front. ( black letters on white or light grey T's with heat transfer) If someone could clean this up and stretch it for me to about 9 inchs, so it can go across the front, that would be aweet. OR , if someone knows this font, i could probably do it myself. Wit hthe 2 different colors of album art, which one would be better for light t's using heat transfers.Any input on putting "drvin" on the fornt and the album art on the back? Thanks everyone. Love this site!
You can upload the jpg to WhatTheFont : MyFonts to see if they can i.d. it. Otherwise, if you have Corel or Illustrator, you could trace the jpg to convert it to a vector file which will enable you to size it to where you want.
and there are plenty of free or shareware font download sites out there............. www.download.com choose your platform (mac or pc) then on the left of the web page you'll see different categories. choose graphic design. then it'll take you to the next where you choose the subcategory>fonts. just keep digging and you'll find plenty. the fonts might not be exact but i've downloaded plenty of grunge/metal fonts. (i don't think i have the one you're showing). after that, load them into your system. and go to work. do you have illustrator?
if you need help from there (i.e. making it 2 colors etc.) post a new thread and i'll help you out. peace.
Cool, i have Photoshop Cs, i just uninstalled Corel 4x ( hard drive problem) planning on putting it back on. I might have illustrator as well. I tried the power trace and trace in corel, just cant figure it out. I hit trace and all isee is crazy lines instead of my drawing...Whats better ilustrator or corel?
it depends. everyone has their favorite, bringing it up almost starts a debate. either is great for doing tees.
when you do a 'trace' it leaves you with vector lines. the program traces along parts of an image based on what what you have told that program to do. you might have to switch 'views' so as to see what has taken place.
go to view>outlines (in illus). corel has something similar i'm sure. viewing by outlines you only see the vector art left by the trace, not a scan or a photo placed into your file.
since the art is all jagged anyway, you can probably get away with just scanning it at a high resolution and clean it up a little and be good to go. if not, you can just redraw it, sometimes redrawing verbiage is faster than searching the web for a similar font and tweaking it to make it look similar.
I'd just trace the picture of the font with either Photoshop or Illustrator...I'd prefer to trace it with illustrator if you want the image of the text to look very clear & professional. Don't bother with that live trace tool for something so simple...just trace it manually, plus keep in mind that the style of this text is jagged so you don't have to make a perfect trace over it. I just traced the "D" in photoshop to see how it looked and it looked pretty similar. almost identical.

When you trace it in corel, go to trace bitmap, do it as a high quality image and make sure to change the color to black and white, adjust smooth and detail as needed. I did this with the driven image and it came out exactly to what you have above. Hope this helps.
