Good afternoon everyone, I have a question. I recreated a picture and txt I had for a client and had to put outline on it and I used the stoke tool, but when I went to layer it for printing to screen print it wouldn't let me use the magic ward on the outline which will be a different color. What am I doing wrong? Also everyone that has given me advice the past week on these designs Thank You so much they are coming together. Dawn
you have to rasterize the layer after adding the stroke from the blending option. i don't remember how it was done in PS7. once you rasterize the layer, u'll be able to select the stroke color by using the magic wand or whatever suits u.
Hey guys I rasterized the layer to seperate outline from text but it still wouldn't pic up both with magic ward any suggestions? Also I have recreated a pictures and on one of the text I need the outline to look smeared or faded not sure which. Here is a att. to see what I'm talking about it's the part around BAND. I know everyone is tried of looking at this I have almost got it. Thanks, Dawn
...Hmmm Did you use the stroke in the layers style. If so next to the "F" on the layer is a arrow. Click the arrow to show the effects(stroke). Click the eye to turn off the effect; print the layers of that color all in black. Click back in the history palette to before the turning off of the stroke. Now change the color of the shape with the stroke to white. Then go back to stroke and change the color of the stroke to black......this is all if the stroke is to be a diferent color. Layer styles can't be mess with. So, you have to use it this way, so far not sure if there's a work around

The fade will go into dots so hope you were going to print it that way. After you make the non stroke white, make a layer over it. The stroke needs to be black. Pick the brush tool. Select the brushes, go down till you see odd brushes. The pick the fourth one down from the multi star one,with 33 next to it. Pick a bigger size for the brush. Using the color white click on the black to break it up. Click wih different parts of the brush to get different looks. Hope this gives you the look you can use. If not throw the layer out......
WOW! That seems so diffucult I haven't been working with layers for long so forgive me. The black is the background of a shirt so it all goes, but I will try to do what you suggested thanks for your help.
Well the black that you use in the program is the ink color and the white is the shirt; in the example I gave. I see you can use vinyl for things. The vinyl program I've used is great for spot colors. The outline would be so much easier in that program. But it doesn't do halftones dots.
OK, I had thought about doing it in vinyl but thought it would be cheaper if I could do it in ink. It doesn't have to be exact I might just keep the cloud and redo the font and outline but when I rasterize it and use the magic tool it doesn't seem to work, maybe it is the operator.
