Default Touchscreen monitor

I was looking at buying my first Wacom tablet and it seems like I would go with the Cintiq....until i saw the price! Has anyone thought about using a touchscreen monitor to do graphic design work? I use corel x3 illustrator and photoshop. I know it won't have the shortcut buttons like a tablet but would be much cheaper if it works, all advice would help.

I have no used the touch screen, but the regular wacoms are AMAZING.. i bought a cheap tablet (not wacom) from geeks.com and was super happy with it, until i tried the wacom intuos. I LOVE IT.. I dont own one yet, but it is definitely worth it..

as far as the ones that have the screens, it me, it is best for people with bad hand eye coordination.. which usually ISNT most artists.

I spent $60 on my first tablet and it still works just fine.. just not as smooth as the wacom.

The resoluion on touch screen monitors would probably not be sufficient for any type of design work. Besides, have you priced out a 20" touch screen monitor recently?

the cintiq is THE best purchase I have made in the last two years.

I cant explain the value of that little guy.

Seriously, done even think twice.

I found mine on Craigys for 750$ and it was practically brand new.

Dont worry, you;ll love it as much as I do
