Default Making illustrator file look more vintage(rough)

Anyone have any tips on taking a clean crisp illustration done in adobe illustrator and making it look more vintage or roughed up a bit?
Other than taking it into photoshop.
Thanks.

Do a search for Ill. filters and for textures and you should fine some things that will work for ya. There is also a group of textures called Machine Wash that will give you the effect.

what i've done in the past is to create a large, black & white distress pattern in photoshop, save it as a bitmap tif and then place it over the graphic in illustrator. by making it a bitmap, you can change the color of the distress to match your background color, thus giving it that "vintage" or "grunge" look.

There are a few posts here that link to a vintage vector layer that you can import into illustrator to give designs a "vintage" effect.

If you search the graphics and design forums here for vintage, you should find some good info.

http://screenprinters.net/downloads/

Look under 'Misc.' and download the distressed overlays. Bring one into your file, change it to no fill, change the outline to the color of your shirt and viola! Instant distressed look.

Not bad for free.
