Default Alternatives to Corel or AI

Other than Inkscape, is there any other software that is free or reasonably priced ($100 or less) that allows you to create basic graphics and import/export vector? I just need something very basic, that is simple, works well yet doesn't cost a fortune. Maybe I want too much?
Thanks !

You can also use GIMP.

I own a animation company and we use C3 now for just about everything but when I first started out I used Gimp and to be honest with you it's really pretty powerful and a lot like C3.

I just bought the latest edition if Xara Extreme, it's a very nice program and has come along way from where it started. I love it!
