Default Barcode readers for under $10.00!

This is one of my favorite items...

The CueCat barcode reader. These will scan most barcodes and covert them into keystrokes...just like you were typing.

Here is a vendor that sells them...
CueCat barcode scanners
I have not used this vendor, but I have used plenty of these cuecats in the past. Type CueCat in google for more vendors.

They will read UPS and fedex barcodes also.

That's hilarious!

When I saw the title, I thought, "Excellent! Finally something to replace my old CueCat!"

I guess the replacement is a "new" old CueCat.

A remnant of a bizarre little episode from the bubble years. I subscribed to Wired at the time, so I got mine for free. Still have the original box and instructions. Maybe it's a collector's item.

Which reminds me of my other great remnant from "The Bubble." Wired's edition predicting the longevity 90's internet economy. It begins:

Quote:
This is no ordinary economic boom. The world is in the early stages of an unprecedented global boom that will continue to surge and transform the planet in the next 25 years.
Not so much. At least it did give the world a generous supply of cheap bar code readers.

Hah, I remember using a CueCat bout 6 years ago when I was programming my senior project in College. I borrowed one of my professor's Symbol scanners and had my own CueCat that I had also gotten for free from a mail in program. Guess it says something that they're still around. From what I recall it wasn't the best of scanners, but it was dirt cheap/free and it would scan UPC, so worked for me!
