Default barcode printing

I,m completly lost about barcode printing, and starting from ground zero, how do you guys go about it. Do you have to get a barcode software? get assigned a number by some institution?? are the numbers different for each country, trade etc.

Check out Zebra Printers. That's what we use for all our labels and stickers.

Here is the institution for UPC barcodes...
GS1 US - Corporate Home Page

They have a monopoly in assigning the GS1 Company Prefix and the reference #'s that follow.

There are companies on google that will sell you one barcode for $89.00 but this is dangerous. You are relying on them to keep up their membership with GS1.

I have had to join in the past as have several business associates. Maybe someone else has done this more recently, but from what I remember it was $600 or $700 to get the prefix and 99 barcodes. You will want to confirm this.

The number of unique products you need to identify and your company’s gross annual sales revenue determines the fee. We suggest you complete the membership application to obtain your company's annual membership fee."

If you just want to create barcodes for internal use, you can use a FREE barcode font like this one...

i have a barcode generator that can output vector files, if you could tell me the type of code and the numbers, i could generate it for you

Update on the code 39 free barcode, I downloaded it and installed it in my fonts folder in windows, and am using it with cored draw
