kewl style... needs a bigger mane (also a little darker)

legs seem either too long or thick, cant decide which...

body shape should be a little more realistic in my opinion

definitely would be pretty simple to screen print...

you asked for a critique... please don't take it as a bashing

i'm a graphic designer for 15+ years... i know what its like to be critiqued, sometimes it's hurtful to us, even tho we deny it... lol

overall = B+ work on that lion some more

Hey Abel! I'm only just starting out too, so I know how you feel.
I really like your style. It reminds me a bit of a children's book illustration, which is a good thing. ;D
Now for the critiqueing part [which really isn't bad].
The animal is cute, but assuming he is a lion, the fur around his head, you might want to make a big bigger or fuller. The body size in proportion to the head [not the face] is a bit too big for it, in my opinion.
The darker color on the back legs is nice to see and it gives the picture some depth and perspective.
Also, I agree with someone above me in saying that the font could be different on a word or two. Pick a word that stands out to you in the phrase/sentence and accentuate it.
That would make it really pop!
Great design. Keep it up!

xoxo

Hey critiquers,

I took your suggestions into consideration and made changes accordingly. Would you guys mind taking a look at the new changes. This link will show two versions that I made. Could you tell me which one looks better? Thanks everyone!

Hi. This is a very simplistic piece of artwork, so am assuming it is targetted at a particular market segment?

If it helps you out at all, when you start to develop a design, you have to have a vision in your head, not only about what you want to create, but who the design is aimed at. Then when you come to market it, you know who your potential customers are.

I do love the simple flow of the design, it would certainly appeal to children.

It would depend on your market. The text is somewhat hard to read. I would choose a different font.

That was my opinion. I like the design but was not enthralled with the font.

I totally made up that font on the fly. I drew out the shapes to make the letters and purposely made them a bit choppy. I'm targetting kids with these designs. Thanks again people. I hope you are all enjoying your own artistic endeavors! Peace! -Abel
