I'm at a point where I actually have to buy a legitimate copy of CorelDraw (starting a legit business, I want to be on the level). I'm familiar with the X3 suite but I am wondering if I should just buy X4?
Is there any big differences? I have found both for around the same price so that's not a factor. Anyone have any suggestions? I could stick to what I already know but if they're close, except X4 having a few more features I would want to go with that.
Once I buy one it will probably be the last version I ever have. I just want to have the best version I can.
If the price is the same for both, then obviously get x4. Corel has a list on their site of the differences between x3 and x4. But in your case, it's moot.
I bought my x3 from ebay from a company called Compuwise, for $89.00. I know they have stores on Amazon and others. Did a lot of research before I bought. There wasn't enough of a difference to me between x3 and x4. I was very happy with the product and the price. Hope this helps.

Hi. I use X3 extensively for cut vinyls, heat transfer and sublimation work. It works really well in all of those applications.
It is likely X4 will take up more hard drive space and need more processing power. Something to perhaps check out on the Corel site, before you buy.
Hope this helps.
Speaking of x3 and vinyl cutters, this might be a thing of the past but a little while ago, a few folks bought x4 and had to return it for x3 to get their cutters to run. The x4 plotter drivers weren't available at the time. That might be something for folks to double check before taking the plunge.
I just bought a used cutter, came with older software, so I have to check myself if I need to use x3 with that. Good luck either way.

I've been shopping it out on the web, X3 is still there. Now here's the thing, I'm not well informed on things like bootleg copies, and things like that, so sometimes I am unsure what I am looking at on these sites and Ebay. That's why I haven't actually purchased. I want to get the real thing, but the prices are all over the place.
The only difference in my X3 from E bay, ther was no box. It is a full version not bootleg that I can tell. 4 discs in one of the plastic cd cases, like when you rent or buy a dvd disc. Very pleased with the cost and corel.
if you people dont mind,Can I ask an ambiguous question? Why dont illustrator is prefered over X3 or X4.Or Simply Illustrator or X4 for designing t-shirts?

Both essentially do the same thing. To a lot of us, Corel is much easier to learn.
Thanks splathead for ur quick response.....could you plz lemme know the productive tutorials for AI...I am totally new to AI,Photoshop.Actually,I want to launch my brand of t-shirts having same quality of tees like PUMA,Adidas etc ..i have some designs in my mind..but how to design it in computer..i dont know.....so if you could give me any rough idea of how to start up...

I'm surprised you have found both versions for a similar price. I haven't shopped recently as I'm content to use my version of X3, just the same I would expect the price of X3 to be considerably less on any remaing copies still available.
That said I have no qulams with and many compliments for X3.
I have been a Corel user for many years
I've bought all the upgrades for the newer bigger better
With all the upgrades the layout stays the same just different options-buttons and styles.
A couple of months ago I purchased Corelx4
Newer bigger better- I like it - I use it every day
Buy Corel x4 instead of X3
"or wait untill they come out with X5
i am a big illustrator user. i started doing stuff in corel, and while i like it, just some things (on my system) that annoy me more than doing in illustrator. But there are thing that are just friggin awesome in corel (creating and breaking apart contours) that so easy a caveman can do it *LOL* and i havent figured out how to do it the same in illustrator. Live paint crushes (in my opinion) smart fill. but powerclip is sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool and i havent figured out how to do the same in illustrator. So it comes down to what i want to do at that time. There are special effects things in corel that are great and waaay easy where to do in illustrator it take to many steps or just angers me *L* Things like the distress generator for advanced artists.
while i find selecting and editing objects about the same in both i give illustaror the nod because i have had a lot longer history with it. But that being said, damn near the whole market for t-shirts is corel based or ties in easily with corel and to get the same functionality in illustrator you would probably pay alot more. Corel pretty much has its self built to work easier with the market of garment decorating where illustrator doesnt.
This is all my opinion however and i may be, and have been, completely wrong *L*
