Default Where did the "Game Over" design originate?

I know most of you have seen the "Game Over" design with the Bride and Groom standing together arm and arm with the bride smiling and the groom frowning. Anyway, I have seen countless Interpretations of this design and I was just curious where the original came from. Does anyone know?

When I hear the term I always think of the movie War Games with Matthew Broderick. But i'm not sure of the image.

As did I. I searched the US Trademark and Copyright sites and found nothing. Is It a public Domain Design? I mean I see different variations of this design everywhere. Even In our local malls.

I am sure it just kinda evolved from the early video games like astroid and pong. The "Game over" sign would come up after you were beaten. People starting applying it to everything; marriage, business situations, sports, etc.

If you search here for "game over", look at record 4 and you'll see that it's trademarked for use on t-shirts.
