Default Sewing decorative trim around transfers...

Hello! I am new to the board this evening I used to do custom design tees, (heat transfer with press), but stopped for awhile, and started a custom clothing design company. I would like to now work my sewing skills in with the heat transfer tees, and I am wondering if anyone has "embellished" heat transfer designed tees with trims, ribbons, etc. around the edges of the transfer, with a sewing machine, and if that ruins the transfer, or if it would be pretty?
I have never tried to sew "thru" a transfer, maybe just outside the edge would work?
Also, I haven't bought transfer papers in 3+ years, currently what is the best hot peel light colour and dark colour transfer papers to buy, for a long lasting matte finish product?
I used to purchase EDPS products, and they are fabulous, so I will order again, unless there is a new place with better quality papers?
Many, many thanks, for any help and insight you can offer!
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Welcome to the forums I think the most popular transfer papers right now are the jet pro soft stretch for lights and the alpha gold for darks. I would think that sewing on the edges of the light paper would not be a problem at all but I am not sure about the opaque for darks as it is a bit thicker. I would try it and see what happens
