Default Using Gomedia Watercolor vector pak

Hey I have recently purchased the GOMEDIA Watercolor vector pak, and I love them for flyers, promotional media, band posters, etc.

However I want to use them with tee designs and other mediums that dont allow for a background..

Basically the watercolor vector paks, are not vectors actually, but ALL joegs!

So once opened, they all have a white background in them, and I have no idea how to remove that without destroying the quailty of the watercolors image..

I hope that makes sense...I included the link which shows all the watercolor images, but they all are in .jpg format with a white background...

http://www.gomedia.us/arsenal/images...large_prev.jpg

Please help me! Thanks in advance for your replies, and I hope this isnt a total NOOB question cause I have been designing for over 5 years!

Thanks again group..

Yea I shouldn't of assumed people would know I had those but yea I have illustrator and photoshop. I tried replacing the color, I tried just using the magic wand, but it took a lot the color out of the actual watercolor..

I am not that much of a noob lol in the fact that I do own programs and own a graphic design company, but for some reason I can't get it to work well and still keep the quality of the original water color design...

Those watercolors aren't part of a vector pack, but a texture pack. try doing selective color in photoshop instead of the magic wand to remove the background white.

Here is how I do it in photoshop

In your tool box there Is an eraser, right click and choose Magic Eraser.

This will let you click on the white and It will turn It transparent. You'll have to click on each separate white area.

The key is JPG doesn't support transparency. So you'll have to save it as a PSD, PNG, TIFF or GIF instead

I didn't know they had a watercolor pack. I usually get an email when a new one comes out. I'll have to check it out.

Yea actually I never thought of the magic eraser! I acutally spoke 2 someone at gomedia(fast response) and they told me I can also use the magic eraser like joe said and then covert to halftones so I can use it on tees. So I will try that tonight and see how it goes.

For some reason I thought it would come in vector format, but then again, these are real watercolor paintings scanned in High res.

Thank you guys so much for your help, and If it works Ill post how it worked!

Yea its an amazing, I originally used it for flyers and things cause it gave so much tone and texture, but then I saw the need in my tees for a more artistic look...

Most of their stuff from tutorials to packs are amazing, and they respond literally within mins!

Actually if you want to spend the time, and it will take some time...to get a near perfect selection...the professional way to do this....is by going through each channel and using both the burn tool and dodge tool to create a cleaner contrast and a much better and cleaner selection.
after that add some adjustment layers.

here's someone tutorial on the technique....

bukanoranggo: Selecting Hair and Fine Detail in Photoshop

It's the method photographers/magazines use on hires images to create very fine selections with fine strands of hair for example.
It would probably work wonders with something like a watercolor.

lol I did the same thing, and same code, now let me know if you find an efficient way to remove the background...

The magic eraser did work well compared to the magic wand, but still left some white, so I might try the tutorial next to see how it works with the channels.

Hey everyone thanks for the help again everyone, the most efficent way was what Go Media said, and that was to use different blending options especially using multiply, it took the white background right out, then I changed it to halftones,it looks amazing!

thanks again folks!
Good luck with em as well BobbieLEE

That's almost a gallon and a half of gas here in Illinois. Or maybe even a six pack. I think I'll have to get it.
