Default Help in capturing and "unseparating" separations

I just received transparencies from a client that are old color separations.

I have several challenges with this artwork.
1. The client does not want to pay for new art - but the artist that did the work for them 4 years ago will not release to them.
2. My scanner is not good enough to capture the screen dot patterns.
3. My scanner isn't big enough to capture the registration marks.
4. I have a digital DTG printer - I have NO use for the separations.

Can anyone help me on these issues?
Thanks in advance.

This is the key. I'm trying to pound it into my sales rep's heads-if the customer doesn't pay for art, then everything else doesn't happen.

I've found that the customer rarely just walks away and eventually agrees to pay for it after it's explained why art is key and so important.

I say: don't print them if the customer doesn't want to pay. There's gonna be artwork involved no matter what, so if they don't pay they don't get shirts

Sorry to mislead here - the payment is really NOT the number one issue.
My real question is -
IF they decide to pay -
is there a way to use the films of the separations that I currently have to reconstruct art I can print with my Brother DTG?

Yeah...if there is no digital art...you'll have to recreate the art.

I'm sure the client has no clue on the printing business....the films are much better used in screenprinting....actually all that has to be done is burn the screen and start printing.
it seems odd that they would take them to a DTG printer.

But pretty much your only route is to get a real hires scan of the films, and channel them together...piece by piece if they don't fit.

Do you even need Registration marks with a DTG?

For our DTG, all I need is decent artwork. I don't need registration marks unless I'm doing some multimedia stuff and adding embroidery.

They don't want to go to a screenprinter, because they need MAX of 12 - and they don't want to pay all the fees. They are extremely price sensitive - nothing wrong with that. But given their circumstances, I may not be their best choice.

I've tried using my scanner at 600 and 1200 dpi - there's too much moire effect from the dot patterns to work well - at least with my equipment. If they give me the goahead, I'll take it over to the guy with the Heidelberg scanner.
