Regular black is 0,0,0,100 (CMYK). There are various formulas for "Rich" black, which is basically combining other colors with black (ex. 15,15,15,100). Some people like to use 40% cyan with black (40,0,0,100) and some people believe that 100% (100,100,100,100) across the board is overkill.

A printer told me once to avoid any combination that adds up to more than 200%.

I've used c 40, m 30, y 30, k 100 with good success.

I agree, although I've also used c 50, m 40, y 40, k 100.
Never heard the 200% thing, probably a good tip!
