The reason everyone keeps going back to the gradients and help is due to the vagueness of your problem. I understand you know in your mind what you want, but cannot get that result from the program. There are a few different things that you have to play around with in the gradients to get a satisfying result. Sometimes it may be best to use the Interactive fill tool to get the edge padding and everything correct. The image you posted looks to be more like a 2 color gradient than a multicolor, so I'm unsure if it's the best example.
I've included three samples illustrating different gradient effects similar to what you have provided a sample of, as well as to what you asked your end result look like. If none of them meet your needs, then please spend some time describing what you're trying to achieve with the vision in your mind so that we can help.
People are here to either help, or to get help. Sometimes a snide comment might be made, or something may be taken in the wrong way, but you should never take offense when you are the one asking for help, because oftentimes it will dissuade others from helping you.
Sample 1:
Two color gradient, Orange to Purple
Sample 2:
Three color gradient, Green to Cyan @ 50% (figured you wanted a brighter blue), to Black
Sample 3:
Four color gradient, Green to Cyan @ 45%, Cyan to Blue (which looks more like a purple on my screen, hope it's like that on your's) @ 60%, and finally Blue to Black
Sample 4:
Not a gradient, rather three rectangles filled with the Green, Cyan, and Black, grouped together, then placed inside the text object. Top image the view inside the object.
Hope that helps!
