OK stupid question... I have adobe photoshop 6.0 but that isnt really what i need... i need the illustrator right? cause in photoshop alone i wont be able to do the color separtions and vector files? RIGHT?
but i do all my graphics for my line in photoshop..... because i like the grittyness and i do them at full scale.....yes the file are big...but thats just me...
Yes you can do separations in photoshop. Make sure the image is at least 300dpi and use the magic wand tool to select a region of color. Right click, layer via cut. This will put that selection on it's own layer. Now select the canvas layer again and select another color, right click, layer via cut. You can select multiple areas of the same color by holding shift while using the magic wand.
I think Coral Draw is real simple to seperate your colours. You can download a the full version for free at coreldraw's website. It it is a trial version that lasts two weeks. And its the full version!!!
Remember that raster and vector each have their seprate pros and cons, even though the line between the two is geting blurred via software.
For the most part, vector is good for creating flat colored artwork, and keeping your file sizes relatively low. Raster is better for photo realistic artwork. Either one can create separations. Ultimately it would be best to have both a vector and a raster program in your arsenal.
