Lay your shirt out and measure it - it really all depends on how big and where you want the design. I have even cut paper to the size I thought I'd like and moved it around on the shirt to get a feel for size and location.

The brand of blank shirt makes a difference, too. They can vary allot from brand to brand. Make sure you keep the design smaller than the distance from seam to seam, just to keep it easier - you can print accross seams, but it can cause problems.

Do you design with a different layer for each color, and keep it at 300dpi.
