Hi I am trying to take an original picture off of my camera and first vectorize it then i want to make the race car look cartoonish. Do i need to use bezier tool first to fit inside container then trace. Please help.
It really depends on how "Cartoonish" you want to go with it? Are you talking about tracing the image so that it looks like a hand drawn inking or are you talking about comically distorting the vehicle (scrunched up, big weelz spreading out, ect)?
No I don't want to distort it or have big wheels, I was trying to get the effect that you see at the race tracks, so it does not look like a picture . I am using corel x3
Corel sucks when it comes to simple things, like why do they have all those useless effects yet no cartoon effect? Yes Im a little Irate, because all I have/can afford is corel right now. Grrr. Use photoshop and import in the mean time.
So your looking for the motorsports "Illustrated" look?
If so, Then usually people will create a black line by tracing the photo in a vector program or by hand, then sep it using the car photo as a reference. This is a art though and there are a lot examples (both good and bad) out there to look at for refrance. I would suggest you start at motorsportsillustrated.com Motorsports Illustrated

Go check out advanceartist.com then come back here and say that "Corel Sucks"
Can't help you with the procedures in Photoshop, but if you are just trying to get it done, try Make your images professional. You can upload your picture, and apply many effects to it, including comic.
Personally, to achieve that effect I would import the image into photoshop and trace over it on another layer using my Wacom as I've done to this image here:
If I were interested enough to continue it, I would now add another layer and 'ink' over the outlines with the brush tool again to eliminate the sketchiness. Finally, add another layer for color and place it behind the 'ink' layer for a cartoonish/anime cel-shaded look.
If vectoring is desired, the 'ink' outlines could be easily Live-Traced in Illustrator and gradient fills/meshes could be used for the coloring.

Sorry
Corel doesnt suck. just mis understood by illustrator users. Corel can acheive any effect that illustrator can ( and More) and just as fast, (and sometimes FASTER)when someone with corel experience uses it. The car below was created entirely in coreldraw X3.
