Default Okay, Okay-help me pick!!

Hey guys, I'm new to the t-shirt design aspect. I know that sooner or later I would have to move up from the black and white composition books and evolve into an illustration program for my pc. From the looks of it, Corel Draw X4 seems to be a good look for a newbie. But I know that Adobe CS3 is fair competition as well. What would you guys suggest for a newbie that wants to doodle and make designs, edit and save for possible production?

Corel has less of a learning curve than Adobe Illustrator.

There are so many tutorials that are easy to follow for adobe photoshop that it is no longer difficult to use any of the applications. Most procedures in adobe are easy enough to carry out if you just take the time to explore and experiment. So i would suggest adobe photoshop along with illustrator as it's counter part.

Good Luck

I use Adobe Illustrator. I swear by it (@&%$)! Or at it. It's a complex program. I know a lot of designers / artists that avoid it altogether. I don't think it's a program to get started in (unless you've got the vector bug [like I have]). Corel maybe a better choice.

I have both, CorelDraw (Ver. 11, X3 and X4, all active on my PC) as well as Adobe CS3. I do 99% of my work in CorelDRAW. The interface is very intuitive relative to CS3. There are many tutorials, free and for pay, on the I-Net to get you up and running, fast.

Which ever one you do end up with, I do suggest that you join that product's support forum(s), for there you could get lots of immediate help for free. Even ask silly questions and get serious answers.

Corel or AI. first before Photoshop. Simply because they are vector based programs.

If you wanna doodle, check out corel painter x. That is a fun program, but does not replace the other two (draw or cs3).
