What are some helpful tricks on making one color vinyl heat transfers look good?

I think it is all in the design of the graphic. With one color, you are limited to what you can do, so it will be plain, but the images used and the way text is done will make all the difference.

Go look at some of the designs that are selling on cafePress, Zazzle, logosoftwear, etc.

Then find your target audience, if it is a local sports team, see what they currently have and expand on it with your own design.

Arch or distort the text. Try some different fonts that look cool, work with the logo or mascot and update it.

All fo these will help make it look nicer and it will be different which is what people want.
