[CorelDraw] - 2 color contour - which color am I using?
Hi everyone. I have a newbie question regarding the CorelDRAW X3 contour use . I made my company logo and used contour for the letters and I like it very much. I highlighted my company name, used contour (set "outside" with 2 steps and chose black color for "line" and "fill" icons. When I did that, my red letters got nice gray(ish) green line around it and black line outside that green. I just want to know if there is any way to find out exactly which color (CMYK numbers) is this green so I could use the same color for the other part of logo design... I could not find the thread about this so I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to the thread (if discussed already)or let me know how to do it. Thanks,
Michelle
Visit nattyware.com and get a copy of pixie. It is one handy utility, besides being free, will yield the exact CMYK, RGB and in other color measurements, the value of the color under the cursor on your display.
Use this to measure the exact shade of green so that you could duplicate that color, anytime.
Open your color styles docker. Select all objects and drag them to the styles window. It will list them all.
Window>docker>colorstyles is I think the menu tree to get to the docker.
I dont have the Corel on this laptop, but I think that is the menu sequence.
I did exactly that and all I could see was white/red/black that used on the logo and green did not show up... (my next step was to duplicate the letters and change the color to green, make it slightly larger than original (I make it as close color as possible) and put it to the back layer and contour that green with black...
Thank you for the info on nattyware.com. I will download and try it soon.
Try this, Go to print, print separations then print preview. It will show you each color as a page.
Good luck
I tried it and didn't get any colors (numbers) on the screen... I am not the CorelDRAW expert so I might be looking at it at the Preview screen and not knowing it??. All I saw was each color tabs (page 1 Cyan, page 1Yellow and so on) and black and white logos on each tabs. When you check mark the print separations before going to the print preview, am I supposed to do something??
When you click on a color, at the bottom right there is a paint bucket that says fill color, below that is a pen that says outline color. If you double click on it it opens up a pallet with colors, that should show you the mix.
you have to break the contour apart first. select the contour --click arrange -- click break contour apart -- then ungroup it. then you should be able to select the indiviual object. right click and select properties.
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!! I broke all the contours apart, ungrouped letters and finally I could see each colors from color styles window! I could not believe how many ways that I grouped letters just so that easier to move them around...
Thanks !
Now I can create my company logo. By the way... Since I needed to use this logo for many things, I have questions to ask to those who are so paitient with a newbie like me . To create letters for my logo, I typed letters in Monotype Corsiva, converted to curves, broke apart the curves and changed whole shapes. It is totally different style of letters now but is it OK to do that?? Can I use this way to create logos or is it illigal I used Monotype Corsiva and wrote "Fightwear Inc." under neath as well. Do I need to get permission to use this font for logos (or any t-shirts design for that matter). Can I eventually trade mark it with font from the CorelDRAW
I happend to open the font file and everything is trademarked/copyrighted including one that I am using...
More I read about font threads (commercial use, copyright, permission, etc.) more I get nervous and confused. I even checked CorelDRAW/legal website but I wasn't too sure. Please somebody (anybody) help me (this helpless newbie in the lost land ) on this. I need to make biz cards asap since several people asked me already and other stuff (webdesign, invoice, steckers, t-shirts to give out for marketing) and I don't want to go ahead and find out later that I cannot use those fonts from CorelDRAW.
If you bought CorelDRAW, you have a the permission to use the fonts. If you rework a letter it is no longer the font that you started with so I think your find. This is not intended to be legal advise. But just common sense.
