If it were me, I'd tell the customer they need to provide it digitally to ensure the best quality.
If that's not an option then I'd outsource the scan to someone who can do high quality scans.
Thank's for your reply Rhonda i guess i got to learn how to do high quality scans myself i have an all in one epson cx 7450. I had a design that i randomly picked to test the scanner on my printer and couldn't get it to look the same it looked somewhat faded. But i guess is just a learning technique and won't be giving up that easy i will be trying other scanners on the market because from what i heard is a must have because most customers will bring you a simple design that they find online print it on paper and want it on a t-shirt. Again Thank You for your help...

In that case, it may just be a matter of messing with the levels/contrast/etc. in Photoshop or some other photo manipulation software once you've scanned the artwork. Years ago when I worked for a design agency, we would outsource for scans for anything that needs to be print quality – but scanners have come a long way since then (though I wouldn't really trust an all-in-one because that's what I have, too). Good luck!
